Endeavour Energy has launched 31 new community batteries in four Western Sydney suburbs—Bidwill, Blaxland, Cabramatta, and Hobartville—aiming to reduce energy costs for up to 1,200 households. This initiative, a partnership with the Federal Government, is designed to make clean, solar-powered energy more accessible and efficient for local communities.
The community batteries allow neighborhoods to tap into surplus solar energy, storing it for use when needed, which helps lower energy bills for residents. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Endeavour Energy’s Chief Customer and Strategy Officer, Leanne Pickering, alongside Federal Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, Minister for Industry and Science, Ed Husic, and Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman.
“This is about helping our customers by enabling lower energy costs and making clean energy accessible to everyone,” Ms. Pickering said. “To support the continued growth in household rooftop solar, it’s essential we capture and store this clean energy for customers to use when they need it.”
The 31 new community batteries will play a crucial role in easing the financial strain of rising energy costs for households while also accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy grid.
