Manitoba’s Environment and Climate Change Minister, Mike Moyes, announced on Monday that the province will install 51 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations through funding from the Climate Action Fund.
The new chargers will be placed in 39 locations across Brandon, Morden, and several rural, northern, and Indigenous communities. Additionally, 12 chargers will be installed at three multi-unit residential buildings, though the exact locations were not specified in the announcement.
Minister Moyes emphasized that the goal is to expand charging infrastructure to support the growing number of Manitobans purchasing electric vehicles. The increased availability of charging stations is a key part of the province’s broader climate strategy aimed at promoting sustainable transportation.
However, the government did not provide a timeline for the installations or disclose the contractors or agencies involved in the rollout. A complete list of planned locations can be found on the province’s website.
