Bedford Man Arrested for Alleged Ladder Attack and Home Burglary

A Bedford man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a homeowner with a ladder and breaking into a neighboring house late Friday night. Levi Jones, 44, was taken into custody just after 11 p.m. on December 13 and faces multiple charges, including criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and harassment.

According to the criminal complaint, state police responded to a disturbance call at a residence on North Mill Street in Manns Choice. While speaking with the homeowner, a trooper heard loud yelling from a nearby house. Rushing to the scene, the officer discovered the homeowner shouting about having children in the house, while another man, later identified as Jones, was seen running into the home.

The homeowner told police he did not recognize Jones. Inside the neighboring house, officers found Jones lying on the hallway floor, screaming and cutting himself. He was quickly taken into custody without incident.

The homeowner who initially called the police reported hearing loud banging on his door. Upon investigating, he discovered Jones near his back porch. The homeowner claimed Jones struck him with a ladder before fleeing to the other house.

Jones allegedly told officers that he had been drinking earlier in the evening and believed people were chasing him and trying to kill him, according to the criminal complaint.
