A 30-year-old man, Adam Corcoran, appeared before Cork District Court, facing charges of assault causing harm and producing a screwdriver during the incident. The charges relate to an alleged assault on a French visitor at Patrick Street, Cork, on July 23, 2024.
Sergeant Aisling Murphy informed the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had decided the case should proceed by indictment. Defence solicitor Eddie Burke requested a copy of the prosecution evidence to allow the defence to determine whether a guilty or not guilty plea would be entered.
Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case until February 6, 2025, to allow time for the defence to review the evidence and decide on the next steps.
Adam Corcoran, who resides in an apartment at John Barry House, Midleton, Co Cork, is accused of assaulting the French man and producing a screwdriver during the altercation.
