In a bid to make Hyderabad free from litter and garbage, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to introduce Jatayu Super, an advanced contactless vacuum-operated machine for sanitation activities along roads.
Designed to address concerns over manual waste collection, the Jatayu machine promises a hassle-free approach to cleaning public spaces. The device uses powerful suction pumps to collect garbage from littered and dirty public areas, making it easier to maintain cleanliness without manual handling. Initially, the Jatayu machine will be introduced in the Khairatabad zone for a pilot program, with trial runs scheduled for Thursday. If the trials prove successful, the GHMC plans to expand its usage.
The Jatayu machine is equipped with a long tube attached to a four-wheeler truck, which allows sanitation workers to easily collect various types of waste, including papers, plastic bottles, food waste, and more, simply by pointing the tube at the litter. This contactless system reduces the need for workers to physically handle waste, ensuring a safer and more efficient cleaning process.
With its portable, weatherproof, and user-friendly design, the Jatayu Super machine is a significant step forward in sanitation technology. Its ability to quickly clear garbage from high-traffic areas, including Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) and public gathering spots, will help enhance productivity, save costs, and improve overall cleanliness in the city. By eliminating the need for multiple handling steps, the machine aims to streamline waste management operations and support the GHMC’s efforts to create a cleaner Hyderabad.
