Vancouver-based Hypercharge Networks has partnered with XCharge North America to introduce advanced electric vehicle (EV) charging technology to Canada, marking a significant advancement in the country’s charging infrastructure.
Under the newly announced partnership, Hypercharge will distribute XCharge NA’s GridLink chargers—bidirectional, battery-integrated fast chargers—to automotive dealerships and commercial clients in British Columbia and Ontario. This partnership expands XCharge NA’s presence in Canada while providing Hypercharge with access to cutting-edge charging technology.
Chris Koch, Head of Growth & Partnerships at Hypercharge, emphasized the benefits of GridLink’s system, saying, “The bidirectional, battery-integrated system offers businesses a smarter way to fast-track EV charging, eliminating demand charges and avoiding costly grid upgrades.”
Hypercharge will be responsible for software management and customer support, while XCharge NA will handle preventive hardware maintenance. Additionally, Hypercharge employees will be trained and certified to perform corrective maintenance, ensuring ongoing support and reliable performance for clients.
As electric vehicle adoption grows rapidly across Canada, particularly in areas lacking adequate charging infrastructure, the flexibility of GridLink could be crucial. The system offers a base capacity of 215 kilowatt-hours, which can be expanded to 430 kWh, and supports grid integration and renewable energy sources like solar power.
