TotalEnergies has announced a significant investment in six battery storage projects, totaling 221 MW of new storage capacity, with a combined investment of €160 million. These projects are being developed by Kyon Energy, an affiliate acquired by TotalEnergies in 2024, and are set to play a crucial role in advancing energy storage solutions.
The majority of these projects will utilize next-generation batteries provided by Saft, another TotalEnergies affiliate known for its leadership in advanced battery technology. Construction of the projects began in late 2024, with commissioning expected by early 2026.
This investment underscores TotalEnergies’ commitment to expanding its clean energy portfolio and enhancing energy storage capabilities to support a low-carbon future. The new storage capacity will help integrate renewable energy into the grid more efficiently and support the transition to more sustainable energy systems across various regions.
