Qorvo®, a global leader in connectivity and power solutions, has partnered with Cambridge GaN Devices (CGD), a fabless semiconductor company specializing in environmental technology, to introduce the PAC5556A+ICeGaN® Evaluation Kit (EVK). This collaboration combines the advanced motor control capabilities of Qorvo with CGD’s innovative ICeGaN® IC technology, offering a highly efficient solution for motor control applications.
The PAC5556A+ICeGaN® EVK is designed to enhance the performance of motor control applications by integrating Qorvo’s high-performance brushless DC (BLDC) and permanent magnet synchronous (PMSM) motor controllers with CGD’s easy-to-use ICeGaN® technology. This combination delivers exceptional energy efficiency and motor control precision, making it ideal for industrial and home automation applications.
The PAC5556A integrates a 150MHz Arm® Cortex®-M4F core MCU with 128KB of FLASH memory, enabling high-performance motor control and monitoring. The MCU features motor control peripherals such as a 12-bit 2.5MSPS dual auto-sequencer ADC, a PWM timer with hardware dead-time insertion, and a wide range of system power management components, including an integrated N-CH step-down DC/DC controller and a 5V/200mA converter. Additionally, the Configurable Analog Front End™ (CAFE) offers key signal chain components like amplifiers, comparators, and DACs, enhancing the overall performance and versatility of the system.

The PAC5556A+ICeGaN® EVK is especially suited for applications requiring precise control at low speeds, such as white goods, ceiling fans, refrigerators, compressors, and pumps. It targets markets in industrial and home automation, where efficient and compact motor control systems are in high demand. The PAC5556A is part of Qorvo’s Power Application Controller® (PAC) product family, offering integrated solutions for motor and power control applications.
