Tesla is reportedly in the process of replacing defective batteries in its flagship Cybertruck electric vehicle. The recall affects units shipped between February and July 2024, according to recent reports.

The issue centers around a defect known as “Cell Side Dent Induced Core Collapse,” which was first flagged in a September post in a Tesla Cybertruck Facebook group. A screenshot shared by the user, sourced by Clean Technica, included what appeared to be a recall notice detailing the problem.

Tesla support later confirmed the issue in a text thread, explaining that some battery cells may have side dents that could lead to short circuits within the packs. The company stated that this proactive replacement was initiated after the engineering team identified the potential defect.
