Rail passengers at London Waterloo are facing significant disruptions after four platforms were evacuated due to a suspected fire. The evacuation affected South Western Railway trains traveling in and out of the capital via Clapham Junction, with platforms 20 to 24 closed while the situation was investigated.
London Fire Brigade responded to reports of a smoke smell at the station around 9:30 a.m. However, the brigade later confirmed that no fire was found. The smell was believed to have been caused by dust from a fan heater. After determining there was no fire, the fire crews left the scene.
Despite the all-clear, passengers are still experiencing delays and cancellations as the station works to resume normal services.
