The Longview Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is gathering feedback from residents to help guide the installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers along key corridors in the area. This initiative is part of Texas’ efforts to utilize more than $400 million allocated by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill to expand the EV charging network across the state.
Interstate 20, which passes through Longview, has been identified as a primary corridor for this expansion. As part of the initiative, the MPO is actively collecting input from the public to determine the most strategic locations for the installation of EV chargers.
MPOs, which operate in U.S. cities with populations over 50,000, play a critical role in helping municipalities plan and deploy federal funds for infrastructure projects, including the development of EV charging infrastructure. This feedback from residents will help ensure that Longview’s charging network meets the needs of local EV owners and encourages further adoption of electric vehicles.
