Province Invests in Heavy Fleet Renewal with New Snowplows

by Harry

The provincial government has introduced five brand new snowplows as part of its ongoing effort to modernize the fleet, with plans for many more to follow. The $25-million annual investment for the next four years, announced in the 2024 provincial budget, is designed to support the heavy fleet renewal program, enhancing the province’s ability to handle winter weather conditions efficiently.

The five new snowplows are part of a larger order of 64 plow trucks expected to arrive this season. Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Fred Hutton emphasized that the remaining trucks are expected to be in service during this winter, although delays in delivery have slowed the process. The goal is to ensure all 64 plows are dispatched to depots across the province this season, ensuring readiness for upcoming snowfall.
