Canadian lithium development company E3 Lithium is actively involved in the ISO TC 333 lithium mirror committee through the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).
ISO TC 333 is an international committee focused on creating standardized methods for assessing the quality of lithium products. One major challenge in the lithium industry is determining the quality of lithium and agreeing on consistent testing methods, which can impact the price of the product. E3 Lithium’s Calgary Lab serves as a center of excellence, testing methods developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for lithium standards.
E3 Lithium has been engaged with the ISO TC 333 Mirror Committee for over five years. Recently, the company has tested samples to validate the methodology and now operates the analytical equipment necessary to determine lithium product quality as defined by the emerging standards.
In 2024, the company completed two interlaboratory collaborative tests. The results were verified against ISO TC 333 standards to confirm the quality of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide.
E3 Lithium is playing a key role in developing ISO standards to assess lithium quality, focusing on purity, elemental impurities, and metallic magnetic impurities.
Chris Doornbos, President and CEO of E3 Lithium, stated, “By collaborating with international experts and helping shape global benchmarks, we are contributing to the development of new standards for the lithium industry. Having this expertise in house accelerates our ability to test our own products, allowing the company to save both time and money.”
