Health Canada has announced a recall for Ryobi 40V HP Brushless 21” Walk Behind Lawn Mowers, citing a potential fire hazard. The recall affects a significant number of units sold across North America.
Approximately 28,400 mowers were sold in Canada, while more than 217,000 units were sold in the United States between February 2021 and January 2025. The recall affects mowers that have a push-on connector inside the powerhead, which can overheat and pose a fire risk.
Health Canada reports one incident of overheating with a fire while the mower was in use, although no injuries were reported. In the United States, nearly 100 similar reports have been filed, with four resulting in fires and two minor injuries.
