The City of Ann Arbor has announced new discounts and rebates for electric lawn care equipment, including leaf blowers. The offer will be available from March 1 to May 31 through two new programs. These initiatives aim to reduce the cost of switching from gas to electric equipment, in line with a city ordinance that will ban gas-powered leaf blowers by 2028.
“We’re launching these programs now to help people prepare,” said Julie Roth, energy manager at the City of Ann Arbor’s Office of Sustainability and Innovations. “Both programs are time-limited, so we encourage people to take advantage of them.”
The Electric Lawn Care Equipment Discount Program offers discounts on electric lawn care tools. The program is a partnership between the city and two local retailers, Grainger Industrial Supply and WEINGARTZ. It is open to Ann Arbor residents, as well as lawn care and landscaping businesses serving the city. Those interested can visit the city’s website to see a list of eligible equipment and available discounts, as they vary between the retailers.
