ChargEV has launched a new electric vehicle (EV) charging hub at Bandar 16 Sierra, similar to its Pitstop Tangkak location. The new hub is equipped with eight DC charge points, offering a maximum charging capacity of 120kW.
The chargers are located in the outdoor car park area of IOI Sierra Fresco@16Sierra, close to various commercial outlets. At this site, ChargEV has installed Kempower DC charging units with eight individual satellite terminals featuring CCS2 nozzles. While the hardware is capable of supporting up to 400kW, the current setup limits charging to 120kW, which is shared dynamically across all eight terminals.
The charging hub is currently supported by a battery energy storage system (BESS), and the maximum charging capacity will increase once the power source from the grid is upgraded. This situation is similar to the Tangkak EV charging hub.
As with other new DC charging locations, ChargEV charges RM1.60 per kWh. Charging can be activated and paid for through the ChargEV app. Additionally, users who subscribed to ChargEV’s Yearly Plan membership before it was discontinued can enjoy a 50% discount on the charging rate.
In recent weeks, ChargEV has opened several large-scale DC charging hubs, including Elmina Lakeside Mall with 16 DC charge points and Pitstop Tangkak with eight charge points.
