Samsung SDI has been honored with two prestigious InterBattery Awards for its 50A high-power cylindrical battery cell and advanced electrode technology for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The awards were presented on Monday, ahead of the InterBattery 2025 trade show, set to take place from March 5 to 7 at Coex in Seoul.
The 50A cylindrical battery cell, which can deliver 50 amperes of current, features a unique multitab design at both ends, improving power output and lifespan compared to traditional cylindrical cells, which only have two tabs on each side. Samsung SDI’s new electrode technology, meanwhile, incorporates high-nickel materials into lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery electrodes, increasing energy density while maintaining LFP’s safety advantages.
These innovations highlight Samsung SDI’s ongoing commitment to advancing battery technology for the electric vehicle market.
