UBE Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony today for its new dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC) plant near New Orleans, Louisiana. The event was attended by approximately 180 people, including government officials, local community members, and constructors.
Notable attendees from UBE included Masato Izumihara, President and Representative Director, and Yuki Nishida, Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer. The plant, which will be operated by UBE C1 Chemicals America, Inc., is set to manufacture DMC and EMC in the United States.
HYCO1, a leader in syngas production and carbon utilization technology, also joined UBE in celebrating the groundbreaking of the state-of-the-art facility. This new plant is seen as a significant step toward sustainable battery materials production, positioning UBE as a key player in the growing electric vehicle (EV) market.
