Kraken Robotics has announced that it has secured $34 million in orders for its SeaPower pressure-tolerant batteries. This includes a significant $31 million order from an unnamed defense industry client.
The orders will support uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV) operations across the U.S., Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to the defense contract, Kraken received orders totaling $3 million from two commercial clients, the company stated.
To meet the growing demand, Kraken has signed a lease for a new battery production facility in Nova Scotia, which is expected to begin operations by late 2025. The facility will provide 60,000 square feet of office and production space, increasing Kraken’s battery production capacity threefold.
Kraken’s subsea lithium polymer batteries are specifically designed to enhance the endurance of UUVs, while also reducing operational costs for both defense and commercial subsea applications.
