Genting Simon has announced plans to transform Johor Premium Outlets into Southeast Asia’s largest fast-charging hub for electric vehicles (EVs). The facility will feature at least 500 charging stations, addressing the growing demand for EV infrastructure and reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
Once fully operational, the charging hub will include direct current (DC) chargers with outputs ranging from 280 kW to 1 MW, making it the first public facility in the region to offer a 1 MW charger.
The project will be developed in partnership with Yinson Greentech’s chargEV and DC Handal, ensuring a wide range of vehicles can use the chargers. The infrastructure is designed to support both current and future EV models.
In addition to the charging stations, the plan includes electrifying Johor Premium Outlets’ shuttle bus fleet and creating an EV Bus Hub. This hub will provide direct connections between Johor Bahru checkpoints and other major public transport hubs, making sustainable travel more accessible for both local and international visitors.
