Kempower, a developer and manufacturer of EV charging systems, has teamed up with Bornes Quebec, a Quebec-based installer and support services provider, to launch an advanced, scalable EV charging system for the Quebec Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB). This new system is designed to charge the fleet of 30 school buses and features dynamic power-sharing capabilities.
The charging station, which began operations in 2024, is equipped with 14 DC fast chargers. Kempower’s cloud-based ChargEye management software is used to monitor and manage the charging process, with the ability to automatically identify fleet buses when they plug in. This innovation removes the need for a gated security system and allows the station to potentially serve as a public charging station during off-hours when the school buses are not in use.
Bruce Banfill, Assistant Director of Transportation at ETSB, noted, “The versatility of Kempower chargers helps us in our operations and reduces operational costs.”
