Long Beach Township to Enforce Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Restrictions

by Harry

As spring draws near, Long Beach Township is reminding residents about its restrictions on gas-powered leaf blowers. The use of these blowers is prohibited on weekends and holidays, as well as between the hours of 4 p.m. and 9 a.m. on weekdays.

According to Section 127-10 of the township code, “All nuisances set forth in Section II of the Health Code are prohibited public health nuisances.” It further states that it is unlawful for anyone to create or continue any loud, unnecessary, or unusual noises that could disturb or endanger the comfort, health, or safety of others.

The ordinance also specifies that no person should cause any loud noise that disturbs or endangers the well-being of others.

In addition to the leaf blower restrictions, the code limits construction sites to the use of no more than two gas-powered temporary generators at a time.

The ordinance also addresses noise from radios, televisions, or any other sound-producing devices. It states that no one should operate such devices in a way that disturbs the peace of others, and the volume should only be loud enough for convenient hearing by the intended listeners.
