Apple Maps EV Routing Adds Tesla Supercharger for Ford Customers

by Harry

Ford has announced that customers with the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning who use the Apple Maps EV Routing feature in CarPlay can now be automatically routed to chargers using the North American Charging Standard (NACS). This includes the Tesla Supercharger network, which was previously not supported by the Apple Maps EV Routing function.

Ford says that no software update is necessary. NACS support for Apple Maps EV routing is available on iPhones running iOS 17 or later, as long as the phone is connected to CarPlay. To be directed to NACS fast charging stations, Ford owners will need to set their charging network preference in the Apple Maps Settings to NACS chargers. They will also need a Fast Charging Adapter that is compatible with NACS chargers.

Apple introduced the Apple Maps EV Routing feature in 2023, but it has been limited in scope. Currently, only the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Porsche Taycan are compatible, as automakers must implement support for the feature.
