LG Energy Solution (LGES) and Doosan Bobcat have announced a new partnership aimed at developing battery pack solutions for compact construction equipment. This collaboration comes as LGES seeks to diversify its product offerings, following a slowdown in the industry due to reduced global demand for electric vehicles (EVs).
The agreement, announced on Wednesday, reveals that LGES will supply its cylindrical batteries for the electrification of Doosan Bobcat’s leading machinery. Both companies plan to jointly create standardized battery packs for use in equipment like skid-steer loaders and excavators.
The partnership also extends to exploring new opportunities, such as the electrification of grounds maintenance equipment, including tractors. The companies aim to expand their efforts in key markets, particularly North America.
Doosan Bobcat Executive Vice President Park Hyun-chul expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the reliability and quality of LGES’ cells in developing these battery packs for compact construction equipment.
